This small town in Alberta brings the coastal vibes and summer beach town energy that you might not expect to find in the province. While it doesn't have that signature salty breeze, it does have sandy beaches, a quaint town, and lots of things to do.

Cold Lake is actually a small city in Alberta, but it has a small-town feel to it that makes it the perfect summer getaway.

About three hours away from Edmonton this beach town is an escape from the hustle and bustle, where you can lay back and enjoy the sun. The main summer hub here is Kinosoo Beach, which has a big sandy area, beach volleyball nets, floating docks, a concession stand and even a zip line.

It's got all the makings a fun summer trip, and it's actually been named among the top 25 beaches in the country, according to the Cold Lake city website.

When the sun is out nothing beats relaxing on the sandy shore here, looking out onto the massive lake.

The waterfront promenade is perfect for an after dinner stroll, taking the the view of the sunset.

Around the lake you'll find other beaches, some more secluded if you want to avoid the crowds. Getting out on the water is the best way to see it all.

There's also hiking trails that hug the shoreline of the beach, if you're up for some activity.

Right in town there's restaurants, cafes and places to stay so you can make a little vacation out of a visit here.
