A Vancouver party host has allegedly been operating a "makeshift nightclub" in his downtown apartment on Richards Street.

On the morning of Sunday, January 31, police went to the apartment with a search warrant and dished out over $17,000 in fines to the party-goers, said a news release.

If you are caught hosting or attending a party during the pandemic, and continue to break the rules, you could face stiff fines or wind up in jail. Sergeant Steve Addison, VPD

The apartment has been operating with a doorman, menus, tables, point-of-sale terminals, and basically everything an actual nightclub would have.

Last week, the police went to the home after a witness notified them about a huge party.

The host wouldn't open the door so law enforcement gave numerous tickets to the "doorman."

This time, “Our officers found 78 people inside the three-level apartment, and none of them were wearing masks,” said Addison.

All people in attendance got $230 tickets and the host was arrested and taken to jail.

The host is a 42-year-old man and he's been reported for multiple parties since gatherings were banned under current health restrictions.
