It has it's own trip! 🧳

Spring break is just around the corner, and that means Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is about to get busier. But while you're focused on catching your flight, your luggage is about to embark on its own adventure behind the scenes.

YVR recently shared a fascinating video on Instagram, giving travellers a glimpse into the intricate journey their bags take after check-in. While you only see your suitcase appear (hopefully) on the carousel at your destination, there's an entire underground network working to get it there.

The video reveals YVR’s highly complex baggage system in action. "There’s a whole world that exists beneath the airport to get your bags where they need to go after you check-in," the caption reads. It shows how luggage tags are scanned and how each suitcase is sorted through a vast conveyor belt system.

During peak travel seasons, YVR processes an astonishing 30,000 bags per day — meaning efficiency is key. The airport boasts over 23 kilometers of conveyors beneath its terminals, ensuring every bag reaches the right flight.

So, the next time you pick up your suitcase at your destination, take a moment to appreciate the incredible journey it took beneath the airport to meet you there!
