RCMP Trolled A Manitoba Driver On Twitter For Getting A Speeding Ticket On His Birthday
Here's one way to celebrate the day you were born. In Manitoba, a speeding ticket was given out to a man in his 20s on his birthday. To add insult to injury, the RCMP then trolled him on Twitter for it.
At around 3:43 p.m. on August 1, a driver was clocked going 162 km/h by the RCMP in the rural municipality of North Cypress-Langford.
That day just happened to be the driver's 23rd birthday.

The posted speed limit for the road he was on is 110 km/h so he was going 52 km/h over.
RCMP pulled the car over and gave the driver a ticket with an attached $731 fine.
That's not the kind of birthday present you'd want to be given.
A couple of days later, Manitoba RCMP posted a photo of the 23-year-old's ticket on Twitter and highlighted the fact that the date of the ticket was also the person's date of birth.
The tweet even included song lyrics about the incident to the tune of Happy Birthday.
"Happy birthday to you 50 over plus 2, you can't drive that faa-ast, so this fine is for you," the police force said.
Getting a speeding ticket on your birthday and then getting trolled on Twitter about it is probably not how this guy will want to remember that day.
Someone replied to the RCMP's tweet and wrote their own version of the song from the perspective of the driver.
"Happy birthday to me, I’m feeling 23 and free, flying down the highway, doing this my way! Oh nooo, here come the RCMP, back to reality! Well, they got me and now I’m choked, this birthday fine ain’t no joke cuz now I’m broke," they tweeted.
One person joked that the 23-year-old might have been speeding because he was late for his surprise party.
Another tweeted that the fine will use up all the money his grandma sent him for his birthday.
While the 23-year-old driver was going pretty fast, it's definitely not the fastest someone has been caught speeding by police.
A couple of months ago in B.C., two drivers were fined and got their luxury vehicles impounded for going over the posted limit.
One was clocked speeding at 188 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
In April, a driver in Ontario was caught going 271 km/h on a highway where the posted limit is 110 km/h.
