12 Of Hong Kong's Coolest Restaurants That Prove It's Totally A Foodie's Paradise

Get inspired with award-winning bites, dive bars and comfort food.

Sponsored Content Contributing Writer, Studio

If you have a taste for international cuisine, you'll likely already know that Hong Kong has one of the most exciting dining scenes in the world. From steamed shrimp dumplings to Hong Kong-style milk tea, the culinary capital of Asia has some of the best eats you'll find anywhere.

It's no wonder so many Canadians have flocked there to pursue careers as chefs, mixologists and wine connoisseurs — this vibrant city is a foodie's dream.

Narcity sat down with the founder of FollowMeFoodie, and resident judge of TopChef Canada and Iron Chef Canada, Mijune Pak, to talk about why Hong Kong is a culinary destination. As a Canadian culinary critic and TV personality, Mijune has a lot of expertise when it comes to the food here.

"Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities," she said. "I have so many nostalgic memories of the food there because I spent a few summers there during my early adult and adult life. It's so vibrant and diverse and you can have unique gastronomic experiences at any price range."

While the traditional cuisines in Hong Kong are Cantonese, Mijune notes that you can find so much more due to cultural influences, immigration and the multicultural population.

Four neighbourhoods particularly stand out as tasty destinations: Central is home to world-class establishments and trendy bar concepts; then there's artsy Kennedy Town for the coolest taverns and cafes, the multinational cuisine hub, Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui's stunning rooftop patios with views of the iconic neon lights.

Out of the many dining options, these 12 are some of Hong Kong's best. Write them down, bookmark them on your laptop and follow them on Instagram — if you're planning a future trip to Asia's culinary capital, you won't want to miss these spots.
