- 40 C Windchill values on Friday morning and Saturday night.

The weather warning stretches through the areas of Peace River, Fairview, High Prairie, and Manning.

"Extremely cold wind chill values near -40 this morning will moderate today before returning overnight into Saturday," says Environment Canada.

This type of cold is very dangerous as "frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill."

In fact, according to the Farmer's Almanac, exposed skin can freeze in as little as five minutes at temperatures of - 40 C.

Environment Canada is urging locals to cover up with warm layers.

They say your outer layer should be wind resistant.
