While today was the end date of the last extension, she said that none of the health measures that are in place will be lifted at this time.

Hinshaw didn't mention a timeline for the extension.

When asked, she said that "those decisions haven’t yet been made," but the province is keeping an eye on hospitalizations and ICU numbers to determine when it's safe to start easing restrictions.

The doctor explained that Alberta has the second-highest per-capita case rate in the country.

As for hospitalizations, she said that the number is the same as it was on December 8 when the measures were first introduced.

At present, Albertans can not gather indoors with anyone outside their households.

As of Monday, January 18, outdoor gatherings in groups up to 10 are allowed with social distancing and mask protocols being followed.

Restaurants are only allowed take-out services and businesses such as gyms and fitness studios are closed.
