The NHL Might Have An All-Canadian Division This Upcoming Season

There is still no official return to play date for the NHL, but recent rumours suggest that this season, whenever it starts, might look a whole lot different.

In a recent radio appearance, Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley hinted at an all-Canadian NHL division for 2021, reports TSN.

When asked about having to play against Nate Schmidt, a player the Knights just traded to Vancouver, Foley didn't seem too worried.

He revealed that Schmidt would be playing in the Canadian division.

Foley isn’t the first person to discuss this possibility.

Olympian Cassie Campbell said in an interview with Sportsnet that a Canadian division "should be fun if it happens... it would be exciting."

Jonathan Willis of The Athletic noted that a Canadian division would have been the most practical approach to the season that just passed.

“An all-Canadian approach to return to play was always the most sensible route for a league committed to completing 2019-20,” he tweeted.

If these rumours prove to be true, this year's Ontario-stacked Leafs roster will be more than ready to flex their Canadian skills.
