One Canadian Province Has Just Suspended The AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine

The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in P.E.I. has been suspended, with the province reportedly cancelling Canadians’ appointments.
Doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine had been set aside in P.E.I. for young people aged between 18 and 29 years old who are working directly with the public.

However, a spokesperson for the Department of Health told CBC News that deliveries of the vaccine had been suspended in P.E.I., with more information expected later today.
"Appointments at pharmacies for AstraZeneca vaccine for those 18-29 are on hold pending anticipated further information from Health Canada and NACI," a statement read.
Additional information about why the vaccine has been suspended was not confirmed.
While several European countries have suspended the AstraZeneca vaccine following reports of rare blood clots, both Health Canada and Justin Trudeau have reassured Canadians that it is both safe and effective.
