Atlanta entrepreneur and activist, Latisha Springer, launched Free99Fridge to make it easier for communities to get food.

The goal of the project is to combat food insecurity and fight for food justice in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods in Atlanta.

Each community fridge location provides a working refrigerator and a portable sanitation station.

6 Community fridges across Atlanta

The group takes second-hand refrigerators, cleans and paints them, and fills them with food from restaurants, grocery stores, and donations of excess.

Each location is stocked with high-quality produce and non-perishable items for anyone in the community who needs or wants to take.

Free99Fridge is all about mutual aid — helping your neighbor and providing access to healthy foods at no cost to them.

The fridges are maintained by volunteers, local businesses, growers, and people within the community.

If you want to volunteer, get connected, or donate to Free99Fridge, head to the project's Instagram page.
