On Thursday, November 19, Dr. Bonnie Henry delivered a B.C. COVID-19 update to the public.

During the update, she announced 538 new cases. She said that we are, without a doubt, in the second wave.

The health official explained that cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have been on the rise and that she is getting increasingly worried.

While regional orders were put in place 12 days ago, she said that the surge is a problem all across the province, not just in the aforementioned regions.

I remain confident and I know we will get through this, but we need to take more action now.” Bonnie Henry

“I am extending the regional orders that currently apply to the Fraser and Vancouver Health regions across the entire province and I am putting new provincewide orders in place,” said the top doctor.

The orders will come into effect immediately and run until December 7.

This means the original orders regarding social gatherings, namely that they are only allowed within your immediate household, now apply to the entire province.

In addition, all indoor and outdoor events have been cancelled.

Finally, the province's top doctor has officially made masks mandatory in indoor public and retail spaces.
