The NDP is celebrating! The outcome of the B.C. election has officially been decided and it was a historic win for Premier John Horgan.

For the first time since 1996, the NDP has secured a majority government in B.C.

To celebrate his party’s election success, national leader Jagmeet Singh shared a photo of himself and the province's re-elected premier.

"Congratulations to my friend and Premier," wrote Singh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In the photo, he can be seen celebrating with his fist in the air as Horgan stands a short distance away, laughing.

The NDP leader also shared a selfie last week, as he headed to the polls to cast his vote.

Singh wasn't the only person to send well-wishes, either.

In a statement, the prime minister congratulated Horgan as he becomes the only consecutive two-term premier in NDP history.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with Premier Horgan [...] so we can keep Canadians safe and healthy and offer support to those who need it, as we address the impacts of the global pandemic,” wrote Trudeau.

While there’s still hundreds of thousands of ballots still to be counted in B.C., per CBC News, the NDP has already secured a firm majority.
