Someone Went Overboard On A BC Ferry Yesterday & Had To Get Rescued

The crew of a BC Ferries vessel was busy carrying out a rescue operation on Thursday, August 27. 

At around 11:28 a.m., a rescue call was put out by BC Ferries regarding a man that went overboard from the upper deck of a ship sailing from Duke Point to Tsawwassen.

The guy was sitting at the back part of the boat right up top smoking a cigarette and out of nowhere he just jumped off the side and went in the water.

By 11:41 a.m., the man was rescued. The ferry's lifeboat, a pleasure craft, and a coast guard hovercraft were deployed on the scene to help with the recovery. 

Following the rescue, the man was moved to the hovercraft, which left the area at around 12:10 p.m. 

Another ferry, the Queen Of Alberni, was nearby to help with the operation if required.
