You don't have to move too far from the city to enjoy waterfall hikes, quaint streets and small-town charm. This beautiful village is just an hour away from Toronto and looks like a storybook come to life.

Offering gorgeous landscapes, cozy cafes and picturesque streets, the town is a dreamy gem, and Narcity readers say it's one of the best places to live in Canada.

Dundas is a scenic town nestled in a valley within the Hamilton district. Dubbed "Valley Town," the village is home to postcard-worthy views and is "one of the most beautiful in Southern Ontario," according to Dundas Studio Tour.

The cozy downtown is dotted with 19th-century buildings and offers over 100 local shops to explore, as well as charming cafes, restaurants and more.

In addition to its quaint streets, Dundas is surrounded by gorgeous landscapes and natural areas to enjoy.

You can spend your weekends exploring spots like Dundas Conservation Area, where you'll find meadows, winding streams and peaceful nature trails.

The town is also home to some stunning cascades. Tew Falls and Webster Falls, both located in Spencer Gorge Conservation Area, are some of the most popular spots to visit.

You can also head to some of the nearby farms, where you'll find seasonal produce, baked goods and more.

During the fall, the valley transforms into a tapestry of fiery reds and oranges, adding to the beauty of the small town.

According to Woolcott Real Estate, "residents in Dundas love the community feel and the slower pace of life," as well as the "19th-century architecture, mature trees and iconic buildings."

Homes in Dundas come with a hefty price tag. According to Zolo, the average house price in July 2025 is $1,148,851.

With its majestic cascades and storybook charm, it's easy to see why readers say Dundas is one of Canada's best spots to call home.
