2 Calgary Firework Shows Are Popping Off In July & They're Going To Be Bigger Than Ever
Get ready for a little razzle-dazzle, YYC. The Calgary Stampede team has got something spectacular in the works in lieu of the main event. Organizers said they're planning two massive firework shows this summer. These Calgary Stampede fireworks are set to light up the skies on July 3 and July 12.
The announcement and details of Bell Fireworks Spectacular have been released on the Stampede's official page. While locals and visitors might be disheartened that the city isn't getting its regular Stampede this year, there's still something amazing to look forward to.
At 11 p.m., on Friday, July 3, on what would have been kick-off day for Stampede 2020, the city's skies are to be illuminated with an epic arrangement of fireworks.
"We’re taking them higher so you can view them from a distance...while still physical distancing," read the announcement.
The post mentioned that if you can see the city's skyline, then you're for sure going to be able to see the fireworks.
The July 12 spectacle, which takes off at the same time, will "also cap off this year’s Stampede."
The organizers say that this is your "last chance to keep the community spirit alive and send off the 2020 celebration."
Both the displays will be broadcast live on CTV Calgary and be set to a special soundtrack specifically designed for the fireworks.
If you're worried about not being able to see the skyline from the comforts of your home, these broadcasts are here to save the day.
The Stampede people also include a whole bunch of instructions that firework-viewers should follow if they decide to venture outdoors.
For example, Stampede Park itself will remain closed to the public. Fireworks may be on the agenda but no other Stampede activities are happening on the grounds.
Public gathering rules still apply. This means that Alberta's not allowing to have more than 100 people in any one event, whether indoors or outdoors.
People at gatherings need to follow the two-metre-apart rule unless they live in the same household.
"If you are outdoors and the area is crowded, leave and head to a less crowded area," read the instructions.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi has also given his approval for the show, tweeting, "So many of our traditions are taking a pause this year, but Bell and Calgary Stampede have partnered to keep this one going. On the first and last night of what would have been Stampede 2020, we’ll be able to look up and remember we’ll be together again, some day soon."
