Do you think Costco and Walmart are the top stores? 👀

Canada's favourite grocery stores have been revealed and the top places people shop at might surprise you.
There are quite a few grocery stores in Canada that many shoppers always go to because of cheap prices, product selection, and more.
Narcity asked people across the country to share what their favourite grocery stores are and why.
With more than 300 comments on Narcity Canada and MTLBlog Facebook posts, shoppers had a lot to say!
These are the stores people named as their favourite places to shop for groceries in Canada:
- Farm Boy
- No Frills
- Giant Tiger
That's followed by Costco, Real Canadian Superstore and FreshCo.
Someone commented that Farm Boy is their favourite grocery store because of "excellent produce and local meats." Also, they said the store's "effort to properly and clearly label Canadian products" is a plus.
A lot of people said No Frills is their top grocery store in Canada because of the "cheap" prices, price matching and product variety.
You might be surprised that Giant Tiger is a favourite store for groceries.
Someone commented that they shop at Giant Tiger because not only can they buy meat, vegetables and fruit but also clothing and shoes.
"Giant Tiger for the majority of my items," another person explained. "Never had an issue with meats or produce and can price match."
If you're a Costco shopper, you might have expected it to be in the top three or even the top grocery store in Canada.
Someone commented that since they paid for a membership already, they're only going to buy made-in-Canada products at Costco.
Another person revealed that they shop at Costco once a month and get enough groceries — $700 worth — to last the entire month!
Real Canadian Superstore is a favourite for people because of prices and the ability to earn (and spend) PC points.
"They price match so it saves me running to six stores," one person commented. "Like most Canadians, it's about getting the most for less."
Someone else said that they always shop at Superstore because it's Canadian.
Quite a few people said that FreshCo is their favourite grocery store in Canada but nobody explained why!
Those stores are followed by Supermarché PA, Food Basics, Save On Foods, Sobeys, Loblaws, Metro, Walmart, Co-op, IGA and Maxi as the favourite grocery stores.
Supermarché PA, a grocery store in Quebec, is a top choice for shoppers because of "great prices" and shelves that are full of "what you need and more."
Wondering why Food Basics is one of Canada's favourite grocery stores?
"Seemed to be the only chain that didn't gouge people on staples. Yes, prices went up, but it was absorbed by higher prices on non-essentials that people don't need," one person said.
"I find Food Basics is the clear winner for weekly savings," someone else commented.
Save On Foods is a favourite for people because of the customer service, fresh products and sales.
"It is Canadian," another person said. "They buy local first, prices are lower than some other grocery stores, great weekly specials, nothing goes to waste."
Someone explained that Sobeys is their go-to grocery store because "it's not Loblaws."
A few people singled out Metro's meat department as the reason why it's their favourite store to shop at.
These are the other grocery stores in Canada that are also favourites but not as popular as the other stores:
- Longo's
- Adonis
- T&T
- Safeway
- Gateway
- Thrifty
- Fortinos
- Super C
- Zehrs
There was a ranking of the top grocery stores in Canada for 2024 — based on a survey of shoppers — and the favourites were Costco, Super C, Maxi, Walmart, Real Canadian Superstore, Wholesale Club, Food Basics, FreshCo, and No Frills.
