Gas prices tomorrow are up & down across Canada — Here's where to fill up or wait it out
Buy now or wait for a better deal? It depends where you live.

Gas prices across Canada are rising and falling by up to 8 cents a litre — here's which cities have the best price today and which ones will have the better deal tomorrow.
Buckle up, Canada! Gas prices tomorrow are set to be all over the map, falling fast in some places and rising steeply in others — and we're not just talking a couple cents.
Whether you're fuelling up in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary or Ottawa, it's worth knowing what's coming before you gas up.
According to Canadian gas price predictions site Gas Wizard, predicted averages for Thursday, August 7 show both hikes and dips across the country — in some spots, by as much as 8 cents per litre.
Meanwhile, GasBuddy's latest crowdsourced data shows where the cheapest gas is today in each province, offering a good sense of where to find a deal right now.
Since Gas Wizard bases its forecasts on daily averages — and GasBuddy relies on user reports — prices at individual stations can still vary. But if you're trying to decide whether to fill your tank tonight or wait until tomorrow, here's what you need to know.
British Columbia
According to Gas Wizard, here are the average regular gas prices expected Thursday across major cities in B.C.:
- Vancouver — 174.9 c/L (+5¢)
- Victoria — 166.9 c/L (+4¢)
- Kamloops — 141.9 c/L (no change)
- Kelowna — 140.9 c/L (no change)
- Prince George — 138.9 c/L (no change)
Unsurprisingly, drivers in Vancouver are set to pay the most of any major city in Canada tomorrow, with a 5‑cent bump now bringing the city's average to an eye-watering 174.9 c/L. Victoria isn't far behind, rising by 4 cents.
Over in the Interior, prices in Kamloops, Kelowna and Prince George are staying steady — and they're up to a whopping 36 cents cheaper than Vancouver's expected average.
GasBuddy's crowd‑reported data today shows the cheapest pump in B.C. is at a Super Save Gas in Quesnel, at 136.9 c/L.
Prairies
Here are Gas Wizard's projected gas prices for Thursday in key cities throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba:
- Saskatoon — 134.9 c/L (no change)
- Regina — 133.9 c/L (no change)
- Winnipeg — 130.9 c/L (‑2¢)
- Calgary — 126.9 c/L (no change)
- Edmonton — 124.9 c/L (no change)
Prairie gas prices should stay mostly flat tomorrow, according to Gas Wizard. Winnipeg is the only Prairie city with a price change forecast, and drivers here could see a modest 2‑cent drop in regular fuel — although diesel buyers won't be so lucky, with those prices expected to rise by 5 cents instead.
Meanwhile, Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton remain unchanged, with Edmonton continuing as one of the cheapest major cities in Canada tomorrow, even without a drop.
GasBuddy reports the cheapest fill in Alberta today at the Costco in Nisku (near the Edmonton airport), at 112.9 c/L. In Saskatchewan, Regina Cabs is lowest right now at 120.9 c/L, and in Manitoba the cheapest fill is at Western Nations Gas Bar in Brandon, at 123.5 c/L.
Ontario
According to Gas Wizard, these are the predicted regular gas averages for Thursday in cities across Ontario:
- Thunder Bay — 136.9 c/L (+2¢)
- Toronto, Markham & Oakville — 134.9 c/L (‑1¢)
- Oshawa — 134.9 c/L (+5¢)
- Sudbury — 131.9 c/L (+8¢)
- Ottawa — 128.9 c/L (‑8¢)
- Barrie, Brampton, Mississauga, Niagara, St. Catharines & Waterloo — 128.9 c/L (‑1¢)
- Hamilton — 127.9 c/L (-2¢)
- London — 127.9 c/L (‑1¢)
- Windsor — 127.9 c/L (no change)
- Kingston — 127.9 c/L (+5¢)
- Cornwall — 124.9 c/L (no change)
- Peterborough — 123.9 c/L (no change)
Ontario is a real roller coaster tomorrow. Sudbury is forecast to spike by 8 cents — the biggest jump of any major city tomorrow — and Oshawa and Kingston also climb steeply by 5 cents.
At the other end, drivers in Ottawa are looking at an 8‑cent drop. Most cities across Southern Ontario and the GTA will also see prices fall, albeit more modestly.
Meanwhile, despite not seeing a drop, Peterborough has the lowest predicted average of any major city in Canada tomorrow at 123.9 c/L.
GasBuddy's cheapest reported price today is at Smokes Fuel and Convenience in Alderville First Nation (near Cobourg), reporting 105.9 c/L — massively below any of Ontario's predicted averages.
Quebec
Gas Wizard forecasts the following regular fuel prices for Thursday in Quebec's major urban centres:
- Montreal — 157.9 c/L (-1¢)
- Quebec City — 142.9 c/L (-1¢)
Quebec isn't in for any big swings tomorrow, although both Montreal and Quebec City are expected to dip slightly — down by 1 cent — according to Gas Wizard. Still, average prices in both cities remain among the highest in Canada, with Montreal leading the province by a significant margin.
Looking for a cheap fill-up today? According to GasBuddy, the lowest reported price in the province is currently 133.4 c/L, at a Quickie station in Gatineau.
Atlantic Canada
Here are the average gas prices Gas Wizard expects to see Thursday in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and P.E.I.:
- St. John's — 151.6 c/L (no change)
- Charlottetown — 151.3 c/L (no change)
- Fredericton, Moncton & Saint John — 146.9 c/L (no change)
- Halifax — 143.1 c/L (no change)
No price changes are expected across the region tomorrow. All major cities in Atlantic Canada are holding steady, with Halifax continuing to offer the lowest average in the region — though still much higher than anywhere in Ontario or the Prairies — and St. John's sitting at the top, not far behind Montreal, Victoria and Vancouver's lofty prices.
As for today's lowest reported prices, GasBuddy is reporting 142.6 c/L at a Petro-Canada in Edmundston, NB; 146.8 c/L at an Irving in New Glasgow, NS; 145.9 c/L at Costco in St. John's, NL; and 151.3 c/L at Wilsons in Summerside, PE.
National trends
According to GasBuddy, the national average for regular fuel sits at 139.0 cents per litre as of Wednesday afternoon. That's up 1.9 cents from yesterday and 2.6 cents from last week. It's also up 4.1 cents compared to last month's average price — but still nearly 24 cents cheaper than last year's average.
Here's how the provincial averages look today, per GasBuddy:
- B.C. — 157.2 c/L
- Newfoundland — 152.8 c/L
- P.E.I. — 151.6 c/L
- Quebec — 151.3 c/L
- Nova Scotia — 146.8 c/L
- New Brunswick — 143.6 c/L
- Manitoba — 134.7 c/L
- Saskatchewan — 134.4 c/L
- Ontario — 132.2 c/L
- Alberta — 129.5 c/L
Despite a few bumps lately, the national average is still well below the highs seen in recent years, thanks in part to the removal of the consumer carbon tax earlier this year.
This same date in 2022 saw an average of 172.2 cents per litre, and the all-time record — 210.8 cents — was set in June of that year.
Should I buy gas now or wait?
If you're in a city expecting a price drop — like Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg or Hamilton — it might be worth holding off until tomorrow. This is especially true in Ottawa, where prices are expected to fall a full 8 cents — definitely enough to make a few bucks' difference.
But if you're in a place where prices are trending upward — especially Sudbury, Vancouver, Kingston, Oshawa or Victoria — filling up today could save you a few dollars overall.
Just remember: Gas Wizard's numbers reflect citywide averages, and GasBuddy's data is user-submitted — so prices at individual stations may still vary. If you spot a good deal nearby, it might be smart to take it.
