Canadian cities were just ranked among the best cities in the world for career growth.

These places are top spots for jobs this year because of work-life balance, competitive salaries, and more.

A new ranking of the Best Cities for Career Growth in 2025 was put out by EnjoyTravel in March.

To find out which cities are best for advancing your career, these aspects of work were analyzed:

  • job market strength
  • cost of living
  • quality of life
  • industry concentration
  • salary to cost of living ratio
  • work culture and environment
  • local transportation and international connectivity
  • access to talent
  • government and business support
  • cultural and social opportunities

Toronto is ranked as the 11th best city in the world for career growth and the best in Canada.

That's because of a high demand for professionals in healthcare, tech, and finance, which offer competitive salaries.

Also, Toronto is a top spot because of work-life balance, a diverse and inclusive workforce, public transportation throughout the city, and nearby international airports.

Toronto beat out Vancouver as the best city in Canada for career growth due to a slightly cheaper average rent price ($2,454 a month) but the same average salary.

That means workers in Toronto have a bit more expendable income than those in Vancouver.

Vancouver is ranked as the 12th best city in the world for growing your career.

According to this ranking, it's a top choice for anyone wanting a career in tech, finance and green industries.

The city's outdoor lifestyle and working culture put a "huge emphasis" on work-life balance for employees.

Also, education opportunities and healthcare policies at work make it "one of the greatest cities for career growth."

Vancouver doesn't rank higher than Toronto because of its more expensive average cost of rent ($2,673) that's only slightly offset by the average salary ($80,703).
