The US Just Updated Its Travel Restrictions For Canada & The Risk Is Now ‘Moderate’
Canada now has the same alert level as Germany, Bulgaria, Ukraine and more.
Canada is now considered to be a moderate-risk country for American travellers to visit during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
On Tuesday, August 10, travel recommendations for Canada were eased, as the CDC lowered the COVID-19 travel advisory from Level 3 to Level 2.

This means Canada is no longer considered to have "high" levels of COVID-19. Instead, the CDC says the country's risk level is "moderate."
While unvaccinated travellers who are at increased risk of severe illness are still urged to avoid discretionary travel to Canada, this advice has been dropped for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
This puts Canada in the same alert level category as countries like Germany, Czech Republic, Egypt, Moldova, Pakistan and more.
Previously, Americans were told to avoid all travel to Canada, regardless of their vaccination status, as the country was listed as "Level 4: Very high level of COVID-19."
The latest update comes just a day after Canada's land and air borders reopened for non-essential travel to fully vaccinated American citizens and residents.
