Canadians stick together! On a recent episode of Celebrity Family Feud, Queer Eye food and wine expert Antoni Porowski gave a shoutout to Alex Trebek. Although his answer was sweet, the show’s host, Steve Harvey, was taken aback, to say the least.
If you’re a dedicated Queer Eye fan, you may already know that Netflix’s Fab Five are not the originals. Before the cast that we know and love, there were five others—Carson Kressley, Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, and Jai Rodriguez.
On the May 31 episode of the hit game show, the OG Fab Five faced off against the show’s new stars, Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Bobby Berk. Co-star Karamo Brown was not a part of the episode and was replaced instead by Wesley Hamilton.
When it was Porowski’s turn to take the stand, he was up against his mentor, Allen. Instead of the usual handshake, the two shared a hug before facing off.
“No one’s ever walked behind me before,” Harvey joked after the sweet moment.
“There’s a first for everything,” Porowski said after.
“He’s from Canada,” Allen added.
The host then challenged the competitors to “name a TV host who always makes you laugh out loud”.
The Montreal-born star was the first to hit the button, and after a brief hesitation he blurted out the name of fellow Canadian and Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek.
This may seem like a normal answer to those of us from the True North, but Harvey didn’t seem too impressed.
“One of the great TV hosts of all time. One of my heroes on Jeopardy. Hasn’t told a joke ever,” Harvey said after Trebek’s name failed to show up on the board.
Allen then gave his answer, Steve Harvey, which happened to be number one on the board, allowing the OG team to play.
Yet another question that elicited hilarious answers during the game was “What kind of plastic surgery would you need to keep up with the Kardashians?”
The top three answers were a puppy pump, a booty boost, and every known surgery.
Unfortunately for Porowski and co., the original Fab Five won the fun competition.
On the bright side, they donated their winnings to the Trevor Project—an organization aimed at preventing suicide in the LGBTQ+ community.
If you need more Queer Eye in your life, the show’s fifth season will be coming to Netflix on Friday, June 5.
