The Conservatives Deleted An Old Post Accusing Trudeau Of Election Rigging (CORRECTION)

The Conservative party previously accused Justin Trudeau of election rigging and trying to limit what they can do as a party.

On January 8th, two days after a pro-Trump mob attacked the U.S. Capitol, they removed the page and redirected it to a sassy 404 message.

In an email to Narcity, the Conservative Party stated that the post accusing Justin Trudeau was from years ago, prior to the last federal election, and was removed on January 8th because it’s no longer representative of their current leadership.

The old post stated "Justin Trudeau is rigging the next election in his favour," which was captured by Wayback Machine. “Trudeau is limiting what his opponents can do, while refusing to apply those same restriction on himself.”

Twitter user Ishat Reza drew attention to the old post on January 8th, saying “This is in on the official Conservative Party website. @erinotoole, will you show some leadership & remove it? Incendiary & false claims about opposing politicians rigging elections & especially the PM, is dangerous (as we have seen from the US) & has no place in Canada. #cdnpoli.”

Reza’s tweet has 8,300 likes, has been retweeted 3,700 times and has over 700 comments on it. Her bio, which begins with a Canadian flag emoji, states that she is a lawyer and political commentator, among other titles. She has spoken in the past with the podcast Canadian Politique as a former public servant. According to Macleans, she is a former member of Canada's Treasury Board.

The url now leads to a 404 page that says “Did Justin Trudeau promise you something at this link? Like Justin’s other promises, this can’t be found.”
