Costco shoppers shared the products you should always add to your cart, and they might not be what you expect.

That's because you won't find the most recommended item on a shelf!

Narcity recently asked Canadians, "What products do you think shoppers should always get at Costco?"

With more than 100 comments on the Facebook post, a lot of shoppers gave their recommendations.

The number one product you should always get when shopping at Costco Canada stores is hot dogs.

But that's not pre-packaged hot dogs you get from the meat section and put on the BBQ yourself at home.

Canadians mean the hot dogs from the Costco food court.

It only costs $1.50 when you get a hot dog and a pop from the food court at Costco!

After that, the most recommended products are toilet paper and paper towels, which are the second and third in this list, respectively.

You might have thought that grocery items would be the most recommended products, not food court items or toilet paper and paper towels.

Then, rotisserie chicken and bread are tied for the fourth spot.

A lot of shoppers commented that laundry detergent, tissues, cheese, fresh fruit, and meat are products you should always buy at Costco.

BBQ chicken, fresh vegetables, beef, and potato salad got a few comments each from Costco shoppers.

These are the grocery items that only got one comment each from shoppers who recommend them as products to buy every time:

  • coffee
  • milk
  • chocolate milk
  • oat milk
  • eggs
  • yogurt
  • coffee creamer
  • cereal
  • peaches
  • donuts
  • bacon bits
  • steak
  • pork ribs
  • fish
  • sushi
  • soy sauce
  • olives
  • peanuts
  • mixed nuts
  • baby formula
  • gluten-free items

Also, a few household products and other items got one comment each.

Here are those other products you should always buy at Costco, according to Canadian shoppers:

  • razor blades
  • toothpaste
  • clothes
  • vitamins
  • windshield wipers
  • cat litter

Costco shoppers don't just have recommendations for items that you should always put in your shopping cart.

A few months ago, Narcity asked Canadians to reveal the products to avoid at Costco stores in Canada, and the top responses were bread and meat.

Both of those also made this list of the most recommended items!

If you don't have a Costco membership, Narcity recently asked Canadians if paying to shop at the wholesale retailer is worth it.

Most shoppers said it's worth the money, but a lot of people had reasons not to pay for a Costco membership.
