More Than 70 Flights With Possible COVID-19 Exposures Have Landed In Canada This Month
Have you travelled by plane recently? You might want to see if someone on your flight has the virus. There have been more than 70 possible COVID-19 flight exposures on planes that have landed in Canada recently.
The government keeps an up to date list of all possible COVID-19 exposures within the country on planes, trains and cruise ships.
It's so that people can check and see if they might've come into close contact with someone who has the virus while travelling.
For planes, the list includes information on the airline, flight number, departure and arrival cities, date and the affected rows.
It's updated once a day and exposures are removed when they're older than 14 days because that's the quarantine period.
As of September 14 at 3:15 p.m. ET, 40 domestic and 38 international flights have been identified as places of possible exposure.
They range from August 31 to September 11.
Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair Air, Swoop and WestJet domestic trips that took off between those dates are included on the list.
For international flights, planes operated by AEROMEXICO, Air Canada, Air India, Air Transat, Egypt Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, WestJet and more are affected.
Canada recommends monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms if you sat in one of the affected seats or were a passenger in another seat on a flight that's listed.
You can always do a self-assessment online or contact your local public health authority.
It's important to remember that if you travel into Canada, you have to quarantine for 14 days regardless of which country you were in.
There is also a possible COVID-19 exposure on a train.
VIA Rail train number 39 that went from Montreal to Ottawa on August 31 has been identified as a place where people might've come into contact with someone who had the virus.
However, that exposure will soon be removed from the list because it's been 14 days.
During the first couple of weeks of September, 43 flights with possible COVID-19 exposures have landed in Toronto.
