On Tuesday, October 13 Alberta's top doctor address the public to provide an update on COVID-19 in Alberta

Nearing the end of her address, Dr. Deena Hinshaw said she'd like to discuss a new "trend" that she finds "concerning."

"Contact tracers are reporting that an increasing number of people are reluctant to share information about where they may have been exposed to the virus, where they have been while infectious, and who they've been in contact with."

If we are not able to trace contacts and prevent the virus from spreading, the impacts will continue to grow.

She said that the reason for this trend may be that people are tired of COVID-19 and tired of its impact on their lives.

Hinshaw asked Albertans not to turn their anger against the contract tracers.

She said we need to work together to prevent the onward spread, even though it seems like COVID-19 has "been around for years."

The doctor said that she knows many people missed out on family gatherings this weekend and acknowledged all of the sacrifices everyone has made.

"The only way to get through this is to continue working together," she said.
