Canada's Active COVID-19 Cases Are Over 5,000 For The First Time In Weeks

The fight against the ongoing pandemic hasn't been an easy one. Right now, the active cases have taken another unfortunate jump, reaching 5000 for the first time in weeks.

According to the epidemiological summary from the federal government, as of August 28, the number of active cases across the country was at 5,016, with the majority of them still being in Quebec. Although, Ontario and Alberta were not far behind.

Active COVID-19 cases in Canada

The last day to have more than 5,000 total active cases reported was August 9.

The latest numbers account for 3.9% of Canada's total cases, which stand at 127,358 and also includes 9,108 deaths.

Canada's active cases took a massive drop in July due to changes in how recoveries were being reported in Quebec. The number fell from roughly 27,000 to just over 4,800.
