When it comes to daily cases of COVID-19 in Canada, we're currently in our "window of opportunity" to make sure that we avoid projections of 10,000 a day in December.

On November 27, Dr. Theresa Tam spoke about the state of the pandemic here in Canada and where we could be heading.

"If we continue on the current pace, our longer-range models continue to forecast significant increases in daily case counts and estimate that there could be up to 10,000 cases reported daily by mid-December," she said.

The country's top doctor also noted that we have a "window of opportunity" right now to make sure that we don't reach those modelling projections.

She said that everyone, including public health authorities, needs to work together to bring the COVID-19 infection rate down into a safer trajectory.

Dr. Tam also mentioned that there are currently large weekly increases of infections in many places across the country west of Atlantic Canada.

She said that three provinces make up for almost 75% of daily cases nationally and one of those is experiencing "rapid growth."

Before Dr. Tam spoke, Justin Trudeau gave an update about vaccines and how most Canadians should be immunized by September 2021.
