A New Report Says Canada Has More Vaccine Doses Than People & It's Hurting Other Countries

That means less doses for others.
Senior Writer

With all the doses of COVID-19 vaccines Canada has secured now, a new report said that we have more doses than people and that it's hurting other countries.

The report posted by Amnesty International shows that almost 70 poor countries will only be able to vaccinate one in 10 people next year.

Amnesty International argues that's because wealthy countries have ordered so many doses and Canada was actually named specifically as a notable part of the issue.

5 number of times each Canadian could be vaccinated

According to the report, rich countries that represent only 14% of the world's population have secured 53% of the doses of top COVID-19 vaccine contenders.

Canada has the most doses of any country which is enough to inoculate every single Canadian five times, Amnesty International claims.

The report also said all of the doses of the Moderna vaccine and 96% of the Pfizer/BioNTech one have been secured by rich countries, which includes Canada.

Justin Trudeau recently said that we have "the most diverse portfolio of any country for vaccines."

While our country tops the charts in the number of vaccines ordered, Canada is part of the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) Facility which is working to buy doses for low and middle-income countries.
