So Many People Were Tweeting 'CovidIsOver' That Doctors Had To Step In & Clear The Air

Turns out it is NOT over.

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) stepped in after #CovidIsOver was trending on Twitter.

The CMA's Twitter account noted that the hashtag was trending in Canada and wrote "We can assure you that it is not over."

It continued to say that things are "trending in the right direction" in most parts of Canada because of "rising vaccination coverage." But, it did say that Canada needs to remain vigilant and respect public health guidelines. So, to sum it up, COVID-19 isn't over just yet.

The CMA shared a graphic that shows that 74% of Canadians aged 80 and over have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as of June 26, 2021.*

The graphic shows, however, that only 14% of those between the ages of 18 and 29 have had two doses.

It looks like people may have gotten a bit ahead of themselves by suggesting COVID-19 is over.
