The health official said that the approach has been updated “to ensure that those people who most need to get a test right away realize that and do that.”

There are certain people that we want to get a test right away.

Henry explained that there are two groups of people who need to get tested immediately.

The first group is anyone who's been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and is showing any symptoms at all.

The second group is anyone who is showing any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, loss of sense of smell or taste, or difficulty breathing.

"Even if you've not been around anybody with COVID, you need to get tested right away," said Henry.

She explained that these symptoms don't confirm that you have COVID-19 but they do confirm that you should get a test right away.

As for people who don't fall into the two groups mentioned above, the top doctor said that "it's not that you can't get a test, but there are certain people that we want to get a test right away."
