Strong wind gusts of up to 50 km/h will also hit the regions, reducing visibility due to blowing snow.

"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," an excerpt from the warning states.

Areas in the GTA, including Toronto, are also expected to get hit by snow this week. However, they will only see around three centimetres on Tuesday and four centimetres on Wednesday.

Other parts of Ontario are also expecting snow

Environment Canada also released snowfall warnings for other parts of northern Ontario on Monday.

Spots like Timmins and Superior West may see around 20 to 30 centimetres of accumulation.

While Thunder Bay may see around 10 to 15 centimetres.

The weather agency is also warning people in northern Ontario to be prepared for poor travel conditions as the snow continues to fall.

Warmer weather is on its way to Ontario

According to the Weather Network, cold temperatures will linger until Thursday.

However, by the weekend more seasonal temperatures are expected to return.

By Saturday, Toronto will see temperatures rise to 14 C.
