The Toronto District School Board announced that six more of its schools would be closing on December 14, a week earlier than planned.

Educational institutions, which won't reopen until January, are being shut down to curb the spread of COVID-19.

TDSB announced via Twitter on Sunday that they had made the decision on recommendation from Toronto Public Health.

The closures include City Adult Learning Centre, Humewood Community School, RH McGregor Elementary School, David Lewis Public School, Grenoble Public School and Oakridge Junior Public School.

The schools will be moved into remote learning as TPH launches an investigation into each of their COVID-19 outbreaks, according to CP24.

As of right now, they are scheduled to reopen on January 4, 2021.

Mayor John Tory had called on the Ontario government last week to consider extending Toronto students' winter break.

However, he also noted that the move could force classes to extend into July.
