When it comes to house prices in Canada, there's a lot of variation depending on location, and what Canadians are expecting to pay for their home is so different between provinces.

Part of the BMO Housing Survey has been released and it shows that the national average for what people expect spend when buying a house is $433,000.

However, the average expected price is $206,000 in Atlantic Canada, $341,000 in Quebec, $529,000 in Ontario, $313,000 in the Prairies, $355,000 in Alberta and $586,000 in B.C.

You might be wondering how the expectations of home buyers compare to what's being seen on the market.

According to the 2021 forecast from the Canadian Real Estate Association, the average home price is $665,329 in Canada, $281,272 in Atlantic Canada, $439,396 in Quebec, $855,218 in Ontario, $313,710 in the Prairies, $425,518 in Alberta and $861,286 in B.C.
