Don’t forget your face masks, Quebec! According to reports on Monday, face masks in Quebec are about to become mandatory in all indoor public spaces, starting as early as Saturday.

According to Radio Canada’s Sébastien Bovet, the new policy would be enforced by the owners of indoor public spaces. This is likely to include grocery stores, malls, retail stores and more.

Failure to apply the rules could result in fines between $1,000 and $6,000.

Bovet reports that citizens will not be punished if they’re not wearing a face covering.

Premier Francois Legault is expected to make an official announcement related to mandatory masks at 1pm today.
