One region in Canada is asking anyone who happened to be on a shift or out at a bar recently in Halifax to get a COVID-19 test.

In a news release, the province of Nova Scotia said they are putting in place an "asymptomatic testing strategy" for those who work in or have gone to bars and restaurants past 10pm in the last two weeks, even if they don’t have symptoms.

This isn’t about blaming or shaming. The important thing right now is that people come forward so we can identify as many cases of COVID-19 as we can and take action to reduce the spread. Dr. Robert Strang

"Most of our recent cases of COVID-19 have been among young people who have been to late-night bars and restaurants," Dr. Robert Strang, chief medical officer of health said.

"This broad testing initiative will help us detect new cases early, get people who test positive to self-isolate and stop the spread of the virus."

However, individuals who are tested with the province's methods don't have to self-isolate as they await their test results so long as they do not show COVID-19 symptoms.

Asymptomatic testing will be ongoing until November 30th.
