Hollywood is coming to the North. A new Hamilton film studio is currently being built in the city's west harbour area and will officially open this February.

Aeon Bayfront Studios, located at 243 Queen St. N., is now an 80,000 square foot facility that sits on a whopping 7.5 acres of land.

The new installation is touted as one of the best in the province, "by virtue of its size, ceiling height, clear span, on-site amenities and proximity to transportation and ancillary production services."

Aeon is excited to work with its West Harbour neighbours to continue to revitalize the area and make it an even better place to live, work and play. Jeff Anders, partner at Aeon

"The opening of this studio will create high-value, high-paying jobs for people in the film industry right here in Hamilton,” added Mayor Fred Eisenberger.

Establishing itself as a hub for the entertainment industry will no doubt help business city-wide.

The film studio is set to add 1,000-plus new jobs to the city throughout the coming year, according to the Hamilton Spectator.

The GTA spot has become the home for many great series, including The Handmaid's Tale and Star Trek Discovery.

Earlier this year, Hamilton was transformed into 1960s Dallas for the filming of the popular Netflix show, The Umbrella Academy.
