Multiple People Were Charged After An Anti-Mask Protest Broke Out In Ontario This Weekend

In downtown Hamilton, a confrontation led to hefty fines on Sunday after police were forced to break up an anti-masker rally.

According to Hapilton Police (HPS), over 35 people gathered near Bay Street South and Main Street to participate in a Hugs Over Masks event.

The rally was reportedly held despite the organizer receiving warnings from authorities.

$10,000 Minimum fine the organizer could face

Three men were charged as a result of the demonstration.

The 26-year-old organizer could face a minimum fine of $10,000 if convicted for violating Ontario's Reopening Act.

Police are encouraging residents to either stay at home or follow social distancing protocols when in public.

The incident comes days after a Toronto restaurant owner was arrested for disobeying the region's new lockdown restrictions.

The dramatic altercation made headlines after the owner of Adamson Barbecue was escorted off the premise by police.
