Ontario Expects To Extend Its Emergency For One Last Time Until July 24

This would allow the Reopening Ontario Act to pass.
Ontario's State Of Emergency Is About To Be Extended To July 24 If All Goes To Plan

The provincial government is looking to extend Ontario's state of emergency for what is hoped to be the final time.

Ford's government plans to table a motion tomorrow in the legislature that would extend the declaration to July 24, Premier's Office spokesperson Ivana Yelich told Narcity by email.

July 24 The end date of the last expected extension of the province's state of emergency

"Based on current public health trends, we expect this to be the final extension of the provincial declaration of emergency," said Yelich.

This news comes as the provincial government announced plans to introduce a new bill that would allow for emergency orders to be extended and amended all the way into 2021.

This latest touted extension until July 24 is aimed at ensuring there's no gap between when the provincial emergency expires and when that bill, titled the Reopening Ontario Act, takes effect, according to Yelich.
