The PM said we'll be dealing with COVID-19 for "many more months."

For the holidays in Canada Justin Trudeau and Dr. Theresa Tam got real about what we can expect this year and "it's not looking good" right now.

During a press conference on November 13, Trudeau said that a lot of Canadians are looking at the holidays and are hoping that it'll be a time where we can get together again.

"Whether or not we're able to do that depends entirely on all of us doing what we each need to do," he said.

The prime minister also noted that while we want the COVID-19 pandemic to be over, it's not going to be over for months.

"What we do in the coming days and weeks will determine what we get to do at Christmas," he said.

Dr. Tam reiterated that point and said that "right now it's not looking good."

Since there's a new projection that we could get to 10,000 daily cases by early December, the country's top doctor noted that if we don't drastically flatten the curve it's "very unlikely" that we can get together for the holidays.

"This is not going to be a normal Christmas," Dr. Tam said.

However, she did mention that there are ways to celebrate and have a social connection but do it safely like planning ahead and making arrangements to only see a few people and wear masks.
