The new sales record was set thanks to an additional almost 22,000 transactions, and 76,259 residential properties were bought and sold, which is the highest sales activity in history.

According to the Canadian Real Estate Association, this increase happened because more homes were available and the cities with the biggest sales gains were Greater Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Hamilton-Burlington and Ottawa.

When it comes to the cost of homes, Royal LePage recently put out data that showed Canada's aggregate home price is $749,165 and it's forecasted to get even more expensive than that by the end of 2021.
