Netflix’s New Anthology Series Has Homemade Shorts By Filmmakers Including Kristen Stewart

Making the best out of quarantine! Homemade on Netflix is a brand new collection of short films that were created by filmmakers all over the world while in isolation. The anthology series drops so soon and you'll want to check it out. 

Netflix just released the trailer and writes that the shorts will premiere on June 30. 

"Confined at home as a consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak, filmmakers created personal, moving stories that capture our shared experience of life in quarantine," the summary reads. "This is a celebration of the craftsmanship of filmmaking and the enduring power of creativity in the face of a global pandemic."

The trailer begins with a voiceover saying, "Everyone...is at home."

A series of clips showcase countries all over the world and includes shots of family members at home going through the day to day life and frustrations of quarantine.

"Get me out of here!" a little girl yells in one clip.

The short films use various storytelling techniques, camera angles, and real characters to tell an all too relatable story of life stuck inside. 

Netflix writes that the 17 filmmakers who contributed to the collection series include Ladj Ly, Rachel Morrison, Sebastian Schipper, Noami Kawase, David Mackenzie, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Antonio Campos, and Kristen Stewart.

The Twilight star made her directorial debut in 2017 with a short called Come Swim. Stewart also has a biography drama in the works called The Chronology of Water, per IMDb. 

According to Variety, Stewart's short in this collection was filmed in Los Angeles. 

Stranger Than Fiction star Maggie Gyllenhaal contributed a short from Vermont. IMDb claims she is also directing a drama that's in pre-production called The Lost Daughter.

Other filmmakers produced their pieces in countries including Portugal, Chile, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Scotland, and Lebanon. 

Variety writes that the pieces will be "available to watch individually as five to seven-minute shorts or as one long feature."

Additionally, "Directors were instructed to use only equipment found at home, with the focus ranging from a glimpse into their working lives."
