A Small Community In Canada Is Doing A Cash Prize Draw For Residents Who Get Vaccinated
As people continue to get doses of COVID-19 vaccines in Canada, a small community in Nunavut is doing a cash prize draw for residents who get a dose.
The hamlet of Arviat is opening a vaccination clinic and while it isn't mandatory, it's "the strongest tool we have yet to fight COVID-19."

Arviat's vaccination clinic is happening by appointment from January 14 to January 18.
Every person who gets vaccinated can get their name entered into a draw to win one of five $2,000 cash prizes and the winners will be announced on January 19.
This is being done "to celebrate a new tool" in the fight against COVID-19 according to a Facebook post from the hamlet about the program.
It also said that the community will be safer as more people get doses.
Of the total 266 cases that Nunavut has confirmed as of January 12, 222 were identified in Arviat.
Mayor Joe Savikataaq Jr. told CBC News that the cash prizes are "a very small price to pay" to get herd immunity in case there's a second wave there.
