Extremely cold temperatures hit Southern California very quickly this week, and suddenly just like that, it's winter on the West Coast.

Temperatures took a swift drop all across the region, with weekend rain and mountain snow causing actual freeze warnings in San Luis Obispo County just north of Los Angeles, as well as in Apple and Lucerne Valley in SoCal.

On Saturday, Downtown Los Angeles had its first temperature under 70 degrees, ending 200 days of consecutive hot weather.

The streak began on April 21 and continued through November 6. David Sweet, meteorologist (National Weather Service in Oxnard)

Even the National Weather Service is happily startled by this change, as they used MANY exclamations in their announcement.
