This new Lotto 6/49 winner almost missed out on $1 million because he lost his wallet with the winning ticket inside.

But someone found it and actually returned his wallet and the winning ticket!

WCLC recently announced that Winnipeg resident Mario Raimondi won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw on April 5, 2025.

Raimondi bought his winning ticket at the Red River Co-op in Winnipeg.

The Lotto 6/49 winning numbers were 27966889-01 for that Gold Ball draw.

When he claimed his $1 million prize, Raimondi revealed that it was only possible because of a good Samaritan.

He said he gets tickets for every lottery draw and usually checks his tickets online. Then, he keeps the tickets in his wallet.

After he checked the numbers on his ticket for the draw on April 5 and realized he won $1 million, he put the ticket in his wallet.

But then he dropped his wallet with the winning ticket while he was out.

"I was lucky enough that someone found it and returned it to me," Raimondi said.

"The ticket was still in my wallet when it was returned."

So, he got to claim the $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize.

"I'm taking this as a sign to pay it forward and help someone else out," Raimondi said. "My prayers have been answered."

He already has plans for what he's going to do with the $1 million.

The first thing on his list of purchases is a new house.
