The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is looking to suspend a Toronto bar's liquor licence for 60 days after a customer who was served the equivalent of 21 drinks died at the establishment earlier this year.

It says a customer was served 14 23-ounce beers over five and a half hours at St. Louis Bar & Grill on St. Clair Avenue West on April 11.

Investigators say the patron later died after falling down the staircase leading to the bar's washroom.

The province's regulator says the investigation found that the bar continued to serve alcohol to the customer after they became intoxicated.

Investigators allege the bar violated the Liquor Licence and Control Act.

The regulator says the bar can appeal the proposed suspension within 15 days of the notice.
