A Canadian Man Is Trying To Break A World Record By Watching A Movie 120 Times In A Row

This takes binge-watching to a whole new level. A Canadian man is trying to break the world record for watching the same movie by seeing Tenet 120 times in a row. It could take him 30 days to complete this!

We all have our favourite movies that we love to rewatch over and over again.

Winnipegger Craig Sharpe is taking it a step further by seeing the new Christopher Nolan film Tenet 120 times in a row in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

The record is currently held by a woman in Australia who saw Bohemian Rhapsody 108 times in a row in 2019.

To beat that, Sharpe has to watch this movie four times a day for 30 days straight so there's some time to eat, drink and sleep.

With a run time of two hours and 31 minutes, Sharpe will spend a good chunk of the day seeing Tenet.

He also has to fill out a form that includes two witness statements to verify that he actually went to a screening and watched to the end.

The film buff started his binge-watch at Scotiabank Theatre in Winnipeg on August 26.

For his first screening, his wife came with him but for every other one, he'll be by himself and watching in various formats like standard, IMAX and D-Box.

He's even been posting on social media about his progress and doing live streams on Facebook.

After watching Tenet for a second time, he went live on Facebook again.

"This time around I'll say I was a little bit more confused," Sharpe said.

He still loved every minute of the film though.

While doing his binge-watch, he's going to wear a new face mask for each screening, bring sanitizer with him into the theatre and follow Cineplex's health and safety protocols.

Sharpe told Cineplex that he chose Tenet because he's a big fan of Christopher Nolan.

"I'm so impressed with how he writes and uses practical effects. Another thing I admire about him is that he’s so keen on the theatre-going experience," he said.

So this is his way of supporting the director and filmmaker.

While the goal is to see the movie 120 times, he could go beyond that.

"If I feel confident enough, I’ll set the bar higher. I’ll see it every day until it stops," Sharpe said.

On August 21, every single Cineplex location in Canada reopened.
