We knew it was coming but that doesn't make it easier. With the second wave of COVID-19 upon us, Dr. Theresa Tam said it's more complicated now than it was before.

In a statement posted on October 17, the country's top doctor shared her thoughts about the current pandemic situation in Canada.

"This time around things are more complicated, considering that schools and businesses are open, posing very different challenges and choices for individuals and families," Dr. Tam said.

I know that this is not easy and requires difficult choices on all of our parts.

In this second wave of COVID-19, the chief public health officer noted that the response needs to be a collective effort from everyone across the country.

"There are no quick fixes and COVID-19 is not going away," she said.

Dr. Tam also recognized that this pandemic isn't easy on people and that everyone has made difficult choices.

Though it might be hard to limit close contacts sometimes, she said that everyone you encounter has a whole network of contacts themselves.

Due to the second wave and rising case counts, more restrictions have been put in place in parts of the country.

Indoor dining is off the table in some parts of Ontario and bars have been shut down in Manitoba's capital.
