Trudeau 'Took A Knee But Refused To Take A Stand' Against Racism Says Jagmeet Singh

Once again, Jagmeet Singh is criticising Justin Trudeau’s handling of systemic racism in Canada.

In a tweet shared on November 10, the NDP leader said that it had been 157 days since the prime minister took a knee during Ottawa’s anti-racism protest.

However, Singh wasn’t praising Trudeau’s efforts.

“157 days ago Justin Trudeau took a knee but refused to take a stand,” he wrote.

As part of his tweet, the party leader shared a link to an article about a First Nations woman, who was reportedly knocked unconscious at an RCMP detachment in Manitoba.

“It hurts when someone tells you they care, but stands idly by when the violence of systemic racism in policing harms you,” Singh continued.

He went on to make another reference to Trudeau’s speeches about racism in Canada, which he has criticised in the past.

“Hollow words, don't shield the blows - they uphold violent structures,” he concluded.

This isn’t the first time the NDP leader has called out Trudeau’s anti-racism efforts on Twitter.

In the past, Singh has accused the PM of doing less than Donald Trump when it comes to combating systemic racism and said that Canadians are done with Trudeau’s “pretty speeches” on the subject.
