Ottawans Can Now Get Stuff From Walmart, Metro & Rexall Delivered With Uber

Let the snacks come to you.

Shop from the comfort of your couch. Uber grocery delivery in Ottawa is now available from three major stores so you don't even have to leave the house to stock up your fridge. All you need to do is know how to use Uber apps.

The ride-hailing and food delivery company told Narcity that its grocery delivery service started rolling out in the country's capital on August 4.

Through both the Uber and Uber Eats apps, you can order groceries now and get them delivered right to your door in Ottawa, from downtown to Orleans and Barrhaven.

You can get stuff from Walmart, Metro and Rexall depending on what's near you and what products are available.

It works just like hailing a car or getting a meal through the apps.

You can access the grocery section through the home screen and then you pick what you want to get delivered to you.

Once you've placed your order, you can track its status.

The actual shopping and delivery are done by Cornershop though.

There's a service fee that you have to pay as you would with delivery when ordering from a restaurant through Uber Eats.

It varies by store but it's displayed on the menu page and easy to spot.

Walmart, Metro and Rexall all have a 10% fee.

With Cornershop, there's a "what you see is what you pay" policy.

So, if the cost of an item in-store is higher than what's listed when ordering, you only pay what you committed to when you checked out.

You won't be charged anything extra.

When it comes to delivery, there are some options.

Costco introduced same-day grocery delivery at 76 warehouses in Canada recently and you don't even need a membership to shop.

It's being done through the Instacart app and website. Though members can get same-day delivery with Instacart on the Costco website.

When Canadians order through Uber Eats, the most popular dish is butter chicken followed closely by poutine.

Pizza, burgers, and tacos didn't make it on the list of the most ordered foods in the country.
