This Spot In Quebec Has Been Voted Canada's Best City For 5 Years In A Row

From coast to coast to coast, this country has some pretty great spots. However, only one can be the greatest of them all. The best city in Canada to visit has been named and Quebec City gets the honour for the fifth year in a row.

This is part of Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards for 2020.

Before the pandemic started, readers of the magazine were asked to share their opinions about travel experiences all over the world.

The survey ranked cities based on their sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping and value overall.

When it comes to Canada, five cities were ranked as the best ones to visit, but only one could take the top spot: Quebec City (for the fifth year in a row). 

It's even in the Hall of Fame because it's made the list for the last 10 years.

One reader said that "it's the closest one can get to being in Europe while remaining in North America."

This more than 400-year-old spot got an overall score of 85.46 because of its cafes, bistros, views of the St. Lawrence and the neighbourhood of Old Quebec City.

"It's a beautiful place to visit no matter the time of the year," another reader said in the survey.

Next up is Vancouver with a score of 82.36 that earned the city second place.

Readers pointed out that its lush greenery, walkable streets and the mountainous/seaside landscape makes it a great place to visit.

"There's amazing hiking, the public transit is easy to access, it’s a very diverse place, home to people from around the world," one person said.

Then there's Montreal in the third spot with a score of 81.70.

Survey participants said that the city's old-world feel is a wow factor.

They were also impressed by its cuisine and luxury hotels.

Victoria got a score of 81.60 from readers to be ranked fourth.

It earned points for the architecture, boutique shopping, quaint neighbourhoods and the friendliness of locals.

Banff rounds out the ranking with a score of 81.16 for fifth place for it's natural beauty and romantic atmosphere.

One person said that "it's the best place for a true nature-and-adventure-filled vacation."
