It has been an admittedly trying year with a seemingly never-ending string of crises, and now with beloved Canadian actor Rick Moranis being attacked, Ryan Reynolds thinks he may have some responsibility.

Moranis, who appeared in films like Ghostbusters and Honey I Shrunk The Kids, was attacked in the Central Park West area of New York in the early morning on October 1, according to the New York Daily News.

Fellow Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, who had recently brought Moranis out of retirement to appear in an ad for Mint Mobile, seemed to think that it was partially his fault for bringing attention to him in 2020.

The incident was captured in a surveillance video, which appears to show the attacker punching Moranis and then walking away from the scene.

The actor went to a hospital nearby and was treated for pain in his head, right hip, and back, the New York Daily News notes, after which he reported the incident to the police.

The report also includes a statement from Troy Bailey, Moranis's agent, saying, "He is fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes."

The Toronto-born performer took a long hiatus from appearing in films to raise his kids following the death of his wife from breast cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter

The Mint Mobile commercial with Reynolds (as well as a brief voice cameo on The Goldbergs) were his most high-profile appearances in the last few years, and he is set to reprise his Honey I Shrunk The Kids role in a new Disney+ series, Shrunk.
